We watch the arm try a real task, and note what stops it.
The arm and hand are usually the last things to come back, and the first things people are told to stop working on. We keep going. Saebo certified protocols, one-on-one with a licensed Occupational Therapist, every visit.
What It Is
Neurological rehab is occupational therapy for a nervous system that has been injured: stroke, traumatic brain injury, concussion, MS, Parkinson’s, spinal cord injury. Often the muscle itself is fine. The signal getting to it is the problem.
If you are the one booking this for a parent or a spouse, you have already heard the sentence: this may be as good as it gets. Maybe. But a hand that is never asked to open stops being asked at all, and the arm gets stiffer and further away every month it sits in a lap. You are the person in this family who follows through. That is why you are reading this.
Our team is Saebo certified, which means we have specific tools and protocols for an arm that will not straighten and a hand that will not open yet. Not a shrug and a home program. We work toward function, not just tone, and we keep going after other clinics have discharged you. One-on-one with a licensed Occupational Therapist, every visit.

Moving a weak or tight arm is safe when it is graded properly, and grading it is the whole job. We start in the Pain phase: settle tone, protect the shoulder, and get any discomfort under control before we load anything. What you feel is effort and fatigue, not injury. Every step is agreed on out loud before it happens.
Nerve recovery does not run on a schedule anyone can promise, so we will not invent one for you. What we can give you is a plan with an endpoint for each stage: Pain, Prime, Perform, Prevent. Each phase has a job and a way to know it is finished. You will always know what we are working on, why, and what we are seeing.
Most of our patients arrive by referral from a physician, and many insurance plans require one before they will pay. Some plans do not. Call us at (360) 989-1200 and we will look at the plan with you and tell you what it needs before the first visit.
We are an insurance-based clinic and we bill most major plans, including Regence BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, Providence and auto insurance. The complete list lives on our insurance page. We check the benefits before the first visit and tell you what we find, in plain language.
