Leslie Harvell
OTR/L, CHT
Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist
I lived in several states as a child, with my favorite being Georgia, although a majority of my youth was spent growing up in Issaquah, Washington. My weekends and evening were spent in athletics and helping my Dad with remodeling projects.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from The University of Washington in 2012 and Masters of Occupational Therapy from Dominican University of California in 2015. I worked in several different settings before falling in love with hand therapy in 2019 and obtained my CHT board certification in 2021.
My core values are work hard, think out-of-the-box and treat others with love, kindness and respect.
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.” Reinhold Niebuhr
I specialize in treating elbow, wrist and hand injuries but nerd out over nerve injuries and wound care.
So much of someone’s life can be affected by an injury and injury often comes with a venture into the unknown. I enjoy meeting people where they are at in their recovery and providing a fun and positive therapy experience to help them return to normal daily life.
Conditions I enjoy treating are traumatic injuries. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness people’s resilience, to observe and help with their functional progressions.
I like working at Gabbert Clinic because the sense of community here is incredible. Everyone is kind, caring, fun and supportive. This is a group of therapists that truly care about others and helping their patients succeed.
What is Leslie Watching, Reading, or Listening to?
- Seinfeld (show)
- Sandhamn Murders (show)
Outside of work I am spending time with my husband, daughter and Golden Retriever. Sports are always on the TV in our house and during the Spring and Summer you can find me outside on a walk, relaxing in the hammock or doing yard work. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy picking up new skills just to see if I can meet the challenge of learning something new. If you have an interesting hobby, I’d love to learn what you do!
